Yeah, buddy! This looks good man.
A nice 3 and a half minute trailer to give you a look at the next Superman movie (remember, this is still a Man of Steel sequel, it just also happens to have Batman’s name in the title and also Wonder Woman).
First impressions for me?
I like the angle that the public doesn’t like Superman. In the old movies, everyone loves Superman. He’s everyones buddy. But this movie, they look at it like probably a lot of people today would – This guy with superhuman powers just destroyed half a city, why should we love him? Well, he also saved the planet, so there’s that. And that’s why there are also people who worship him as a god, as we see in a few scenes. (Speaking of that, there’s a nice god hates aliens sign at 0:12)
After a few clips of Supes, we get Bruce in action. No not as Batman, not yet, but as Bruce Wayne. This part is pretty cool, cause we see that Bruce was in Metropolis when the whole Superman vs Zod fight was going down. Always a badass move to be running towards the danger. We also see he saved at least one person and had is building destroyed in the process (Thanks Superman!) Hey, wouldn’t it be funny if it was Batman V Superman cause Bruce Wayne sued Superman for damages to his building? Well, if we keep watching, we see that’s not the case.
Also, sidenote – The soundtrack at 0:44 has some night chorus elements to it, like Zimmer had in Batman Begins (and echoed again in TDKR). I feel that always fits well with Batman.
Ok, back to the trailer. At 0:51, we get a nice pic of an old burnt out building, Wayne Manor? Did Ra’s Al Guhl burn this one and Bruce never rebuilt?
Not sure, but the next scene cuts to the Batcave, with plenty of glass and metal, similar in ways to TDKR but more ornate and busy with more things there. I feel that there will be many things to see and maybe some easter eggs to find in the Batcave, some we might only see in the movie itself.
Next we see Bruce get a letter with an article from the Daily Planet with red marker saying “YOU LET YOUR FAMILY DIE”, written on an article about the destruction of Wayne Tower. We don’t know who this is? Is it Lex Luthor playing mind games with a fellow business man? Or someone a little more crazy? We’ll find out.
We also get Jeremy Iron’s Alfred saying a line we’ve previously heard, but here it is again:
“That’s how it starts…the fever…the rage….that turns good men…cruel”
And on cruel, we get that great shot of the Batsuit being unveiled from behind a turning curved wall. We’ve seen this before as well but it’s still cool again. We also get a quick glimpse of Iron’s as Alfred.
Next we get a little shot of some Batarangs embeded in some wood and a criminal with what looks like a batarang brand on or mark on his shoulder area.
Laurence Fishburn’s character, the newspaper editor, is talking to Clark about the Batman. We also get a shot of Superman hoving above what looks like flood or tsunami victims stranded on their house, with a white S in the shield on their roof. He’s portrayed in this clip as a savior, also we see him in the clouds in the sky above people, who are reaching out for him.
The next shot shows him back at the farm with a nice shot of a sky filled with starts, connecting us back to his alien roots while also being at his home on Earth.
Soon after this we get a shot of Superman on his knees with Lex Luthor looking at him, with Superman givng him a glare, clearly angered and mad. This is one of the few shots with Superman shown BELOW someone.
In the next series of shots, we see Zod’s dead body, preserved by some company or the government, as there are two uniformed men walking with the white container presumably holding Zod.
At 2:00, we see Bruce back in the Batcave, looking at a suit in a display case, with yellow spray paint saying “HAHAHA JOKES ON YOU BATMAN”. Could this be Robin’s suit? A nice hint of the Joker’s existance.
We get a glimpse of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in a nice dress. We also get some of the footage from last year’s Comic Con of the rooftop scene. Looks great in full HD.
In the next montage of shots, we get a flashback to Joe Chill shooting Bruce’s parents. (Presuming it is Joe Chill in this version).
We get a nice shot of a costumed Wonder woman doing some damage with her powers.
And next we get a really cool looking shot, Batman dressed up in a sort of WWII desert gear, with a overcoat, goggles, BDU style pants, all over his cowl and Batsuit.
He’s taking on some of the Superman SWAT looking guys, who have a cool German WWII with a modern twist look.
We get a quick glimpse of regular Batman fighting some guys, a few Batmobile shots, a montage of Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman presumably fighting each other (well Batman and Superman are).
The trailer ends with an awesome scene of Superman tearing the doors of the Batmobile and tossing them aside, as Batman rises up to look eye to eye at him.
