Bruin’s Seth Griffith Five Holes Himself on Awesome Goal

This has to be a top play on Sportscenter tomorrow. But then again, it is hockey, so the chance is rare. The number one play will probably be LeBron picking his nose.

Mike Modano’s Stretcher Fail, WWF Style

I always watch the Around the Horn youtube videos they post of all the guys talking before the show and during the commercial breaks.

This one from yesterday was about Neymar’s injury and how he was taken off the field. The best part, however, is when Kevin Blackistone brings up the time when Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars was taken off the ice on a stretcher and the guys bring him off the ice promptly dumped him off the side.

It looks like something out of an old WWF video and even Reali commented on this fact.

Of course, it had to be combined with the classic JR commentary from the Mankind/Undertaker Hell in a Cell.

And here is the unedited, regular version.

Bergeron, Rask Clean Up at NHL Awards

The NHL Awards were in Las Vegas last night and the Bruins did pretty well for themselves. The Awards were hosted by Cuba Gooding Jr., a no brainer pick for a hockey awards ceremony.

The B’s were 3/4 on awards, with Bergeron taking home the Selke and NHL Player Foundation Award for all his good charitable work in the community. Rask got the Vezina, which was no surprise. Chara was the only Bruin nominated not getting an award.

Bergeron also won the NHL15 vote for the cover over PK Subban, so that was nice to get one win over the Canadiens.

The last time the B’s were this successful at the awards was back in 09, when Claude took home Coach of the Year, Thomas the Vezina, and Chara the Norris.

It is a nice consolidation prize, but I know all those guys would trade those individual awards for the big shiny one currently held by the Kings.

Los Angeles Mayor Drops F Bomb While Honoring Kings

Remember the last time the Kings won the cup, everyone (ok, basically just Quick) was swearing during the ceremony at the Staples Center? Well this time the mayor of LA got in on the action. This is like the new thing to do. He knew he’d get that reaction. It’s like Billy Madison dropping a “Nib High Football Rules!”. Just do it to get a cheer.

Here’s Quick from 2012

Bruins Won’t Re-sign Thorton

Thorty’s days in Boston are over. It may have been suspected by some, but it’s official now.

So why does it matter that aging fourth liner/enforcer is going? Well, cause it’s Thorty. He’s one of the most beloved Bruins since he’s been here. He lives in Charlestown and has become a part of the city and that neighborhood. He’s also a leader on the ice, and probably more importantly, in the locker room. He’s won 2 Stanley Cups to boot.

There are probably a bunch of non Bruins fans that don’t understand this. That’s ok.

It’s been a good ride Thorty.

Could the Little Ball of Hate, the Noseface Killah himself, Be out of Boston?

marchy

Joe Haggerty, CSNNE -The real question for Marchand the Bruins is this: when does the lack of playoff production and lack of discipline become something Boston simply doesn’t want to deal with anymore? The second line left winger has averaged close to 20 goals and 50 points over the last four seasons, and he’s still only 26 years old entering his hockey prime. But he’s also signed for the next three years at $4.5 million and holds legitimate trade value around the NHL if the Bruins need to free up cap space this summer.

If Chiarelli wants to mix up the core a little bit after a playoff letdown, then dealing a player like Marchand would be one of the more viable options. It would certainly free up needed cap space with players like Torey Krug and Reilly Smith looking for new deals, and any Marchand swap would bring back a significant talent return.

Is it worth it to cut bait on Marchand, or can things be salvaged for a player that hasn’t really helped the Bruins in their last three playoff series, of which they’ve lost two of them?

Lot of rumors regarding Marchand leaving Boston this summer. Honestly, I don’t know if I’d miss him that much. The B’s made out pretty well last season trading Seguin. Riley Smith turned into a great player, and all concussion problems aside, Loui look pretty well once he got going.

The other topic of discussion is Chara. I’d say he has  few good years left as Captain, and then it’s time to sew that C on Bergeron’s jersey.

BTW, did the Canadien’s 7-2 loss make Bruins fan’s happy or sad? On one hand, it’s nice to see the Habs get blown out by the Rangers, but on the other, it perplexes you as to why the Bruins could do the same thing.

Crazy Story of the Day – Sabre’s Back Up Goalie is a Video Scout

Something crazy happened Friday night in Buffalo.

FOX  SPORTS – The Sabres traded their No. 1 goalie Ryan Miller to the St. Louis Blues.

That’s not the crazy part.

This is: All NHL teams must have a backup goalie so the Sabres, desperate for a body after the late trade, picked the team’s former video scout, Ryan Vinz, to dress for Friday’s game against the San Jose Sharks.

The only problem with that? Vinz, 28, isn’t a professional hockey player. He’s the team’s former video scout who tried to walk-on to his college team while at Clarkson but didn’t make the squad. Instead, he served as Clarkson’s video coordinator for four years.

How nuts is this? I never wish injury upon an athlete, but man, I would have LOVED to see starting goalie Jonas Enroth go out, just something really minor, just to see this guy have a chance to play. That guy would be scared out of his mind but at the same time living the dream. Guy didn’t make it as a walk on in college but somehow became a walk on pro athlete. I don’t even think that exists but this guy did it.

The Sabres went on to win 4-2, sealing it with an empty netter with 20 seconds left. They should have put Vinz in for those 20 seconds, see how he stands up to NHL pros. The ultimate Pro vs Joes right there.

Ryan Vinz, so hot right now….Ryan Vinz.
